Meeting of Lithuanian National Climate Change Committee

On 12 February 2019, a meeting of Lithuanian National Climate Change Committee (NCCC) was held at the Ministry of Environment. The main focus of the meeting was to review the report of 2018 Special climate change program’s activities and to discuss the priorities of 2019. Also, members of the NCCC were acquainted with the report on the implementation of the Strategy for National Climate Change Management Policy since 2012. The NCCC meetings are important platform enabling non-governmental organizations and business associations to participate in setting priorities for the Special climate change program and providing a basis for future development of the national climate change strategy (new phase should start in 2021). At the meeting, transport and agriculture were identified as problematic sectors, where greenhouse gas emissions in Lithuania are raising. A delegate from the Lithuanian Water Partnership in the NCCC is participating with observer rights.
